About this

The trail leaves the Samse estates and crosses three streams before it reaches the open grass, then follows a broad ridge that rises in steps to the summit. From the top the whole Kudremukh massif is in front of you and the coast is a haze to the west. Twelve kilometres return, a good deal of it in the open, so start early. Permit about ₹500 a head plus the shared guide fee, booked online; the quota is small and the walk is correspondingly quiet.

Guide required. You cannot do this one on your own. Inside the national park, so the permit comes with a compulsory registered guide.

No guide on MaladTrip has listed this one yet, so it cannot be booked here. Since this one cannot be done without a guide, arrange one locally before you set out. We have described it anyway: it is worth doing, and we would rather tell you it exists than pretend it does not.
